How to rotate images

  1. 1Choose how to turn the images: 90° left, 90° right or 180°. Add a horizontal or vertical flip if needed.
  2. 2Choose your images, or drag them onto the page.
  3. 3Check the previews. Change the settings and every image updates straight away.
  4. 4Download the images one by one, or all at once as a ZIP.

Why photos end up sideways

Phones don’t usually turn the picture itself when you hold them sideways. Instead they save a small “orientation” note in the photo’s metadata that tells apps how to display it. Apps that ignore the note, along with some websites, printers and older software, show the photo sideways. This tool applies the orientation first, so the preview shows the photo the way your phone does, and then turns it by the amount you choose. The rotation is stored in the pixels themselves, so the result looks right everywhere.

Flipping horizontally mirrors an image left to right. That is handy for selfies, which front cameras often save mirrored, and for text that reads backwards. A vertical flip mirrors top to bottom, which is different from rotating by 180°.

Each image keeps its format: JPGs stay JPGs and transparent PNGs stay transparent. JPG and WebP images are saved again at high quality. HEIC photos become JPGs, because browsers can’t save HEIC.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate many images at once?

Yes. Every image in the list gets the same rotation and flip, and you can add as many as you like. Download them individually or as one ZIP.

Does rotating a JPG lose quality?

Rotated JPGs are saved again at 90% quality, which looks the same as the original. Each extra save loses a tiny bit, so rotate the original file rather than a copy that was already edited several times.

Can I rotate by a custom angle, like 5°?

Not here: this tool turns images in steps of 90°, which never adds borders or cuts anything off. To straighten a slightly tilted photo, use a photo editor such as the one built into your phone.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs inside your web browser using WebAssembly. Your photos never leave your device, and we never see them.

Is there a limit on the number or size of images?

No. Add as many as you like. Images are processed a few at a time, so very large batches may take a while on older phones, but there are no limits, watermarks or sign-ups.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS.
