Merge PDF Files

Combine PDFs into a single document in a few clicks. Put the files in the order you want, merge, and download. Your documents never leave your device.

How to merge PDF files

  1. 1Choose the PDF files you want to combine, or drag them onto the page.
  2. 2Put them in order with the up and down arrows, or sort them by file name.
  3. 3Click “Merge PDFs”.
  4. 4The combined PDF downloads right away, with every page of every file in that order.

Combine PDFs without uploading them

Most online PDF tools send your files to a server to merge them. That is a real risk for contracts, invoices, bank statements or medical records. Here the merging happens in your browser with pdf-lib, an open source PDF library, so your documents stay on your device and nobody else ever gets a copy.

Pages are copied as they are: text stays sharp, selectable and searchable, and images are not compressed again, so the merged PDF looks exactly like the originals. Its size is about the size of the files added together.

Need only some pages of a file? Use Split PDF first to pull out the pages you want, then merge the results. To turn photos or scans into a PDF, use JPG to PDF instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on the number of files or pages?

No. Add as many PDFs as you like. Everything happens in your device’s memory, so merging hundreds of megabytes at once can be slow on older phones.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

No. A PDF that is locked with a password, or encrypted against changes, has to be unlocked first, for example by opening it in your browser and printing it to a new PDF. Locked files are marked in the list and left out of the merge.

Do links, bookmarks and form fields carry over?

Web links on the pages keep working, and filled-in forms still show what was typed. Bookmarks (the outline in a PDF viewer’s sidebar) and fillable form fields are not carried over: the merged PDF contains the pages themselves.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs inside your web browser. Your files never leave your device, and we never see them.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS.
